Synopsis

In 1976, after an attempted kidnapping, filmmaker Octavio Getino leaves Argentina. Both he, in Peru, and his family, in Buenos Aires, lived with absence and fear, with danger and uprooting. Letters and cassettes were the only way to stay in touch. Crónicas de un exilio looks for the person behind the public figure, exploring the memories of his family and his comrades in struggle. From an intimate perspective, it tells the causes and consequences of his exile, and the breakup and rebuilding of a family shaped by the darkest years of our history.
